Sarah is a futures activist and social entrepreneur, using her skills in strategic foresight and futurism to create art, conduct research and guerrilla social experiments to inspire positive change and build better futures. She is a multipotentialite cultural strategist who engages people all over the world from all walks of life in shaping the future – inclusive tomorrowing. Sarah has a radically innovative approach to data, analytics, insights & strategic foresight. A boffin of strategic curiosity. A dilettante explorer. A mistress of exotic data.
As we are now in the AI Epoch, we urgently need to impart futures thinking and tomorrowing skills to shape the future; Sarah chooses Futures Activism as her vehicle for this.
As a professional futurist for over a decade, acquiring methods from a dozen institutions, Sarah employs parallel paths in her "tomorrowing": futures and foresight. The former involves a largely creative and qualitative exploratory process, such as SciFri and Design Fiction, while the latter is driven by quantitative data. These two approaches engage both the left and right brain, and for both paths, Sarah leverages Diversity Design (Thinking) to enhance accuracy, equity, and possibility.
Sarah is a quantitative futurist who models hard data to make future forecasts with roughly 70% accuracy (i.e., she's considered a "superforecaster"!). Sarah is a pro at using exotic data (a.k.a. "alternative data") to gain unique perspectives. Her secret? Hybrid quant-qual methods, and sometimes AI, to gather diverse data, from advanced desk research to web-scraping to open data and even hacking digital platforms. All of this helps Sarah uncover unexpected insights that inform her foresight work.
The first “Chief Curiosity Officer”, Sarah is an expert in fostering curiosity to gain insights and foresight, drive innovation, and solve problems. She has two TEDx talks, a Master's Degree in this field, and more than 10 years of research in the realm of cultivating curiosity. She has even patented ideas related to measuring curiosity and using curiosity strategically. Sarah has proven that curiosity can be engineered, it is contagious and it can be applied strategically.
Sensitized from +20 years as a global citizen, living/working in emerging markets, Sarah is a DEI&A champion and cultural strategist who uses hybrid foresight methods to design inclusive futures. She works with diverse humans (and diverse AI platforms) using diverse data sets to design diverse futures, using multiple communication techniques and media formats to cater to various learning styles. Why? It maximizes accuracy, possibility, and equity.
